Funding and Insurance

Hearing care is an investment, and financial help is available. Hearing Beyond works with a range of government funding programs and insurance plans. If you are not sure which ones apply to you, call us at (416) 792-7778 and we will walk through it together.

Ontario Assistive Devices Program (ADP)

The provincial Assistive Devices Program contributes 75% of the cost of hearing aids, up to $500 per hearing aid, usually every five years. To qualify you must be an Ontario resident with a valid OHIP card and a documented long-term hearing loss. We handle the ADP application as part of your fitting.

Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB)

If your hearing loss was caused by noise exposure at work, WSIB may cover your hearing assessment, hearing aids, batteries, and repairs. Claims can be made even after retirement. We work with WSIB regularly, bill them directly for covered services, and can help you with the claim process.

Children’s Funding Programs (ACSD and ODSP)

Hearing Beyond is a registered provider for children’s hearing funding programs, including ACSD and ODSP.

Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP)

ODSP recipients, their spouses, and dependent children may qualify for the ODSP Hearing Aid Benefit. Speak with your ODSP caseworker to determine your eligibility.

Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC)

Eligible veterans and members of the Canadian Armed Forces and RCMP with an approved claim can receive coverage for hearing assessments, hearing aids, repairs, and batteries, typically including a new set of hearing aids every four calendar years. We bill Veterans Affairs directly.

Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB)

Registered First Nations members and recognized Inuit clients may be eligible for coverage of hearing assessments, hearing aids, and repairs through the federal Non-Insured Health Benefits program. We bill NIHB directly.

City of Toronto Hardship Fund

Toronto residents in financial need may be able to get help paying for special health-related items through the City’s Hardship Fund, administered by Employment and Social Services. If you receive Ontario Works or ODSP, talk to your caseworker. If you do not receive social assistance, you can call 416-338-8888 to apply.

Extended Health Insurance

Many workplace and private health plans include hearing aid coverage, with amounts and benefit periods that vary by plan. We can direct bill Greenshield for hearing aids. For all other insurance plans, we will provide the documentation you need for reimbursement.
